慎德堂乃道光帝在圆明园处理政务的地方，如此般题有“慎德堂制”款的道光朝瓷器，是景德镇御窑厂为道光皇帝的慎德堂所专烧。本品式样阔颈鼓腹，敦庄可爱。通体施黄釉，色泽纯正，莹润靓丽。圈足中央饰“慎德堂”楷书款。道光十三年清档载：“传旨，瓷渣斗一件着照此样要黄瓷白里烧造六十件，内慎德堂制款三十件，湛静斋制款三十件，俱要楷书字……钦此（附图）。”据载，故宫博物院现藏此式渣斗二十三件，此外，香港中文大学博物馆另藏两例，本品应为现市面流通当中的五件之一，颇为难得。
