A large blue and white Hu-form vaseQianlong mark, 19th centuryHeavily potted and molded in raised relief with taotie masks suspending mock rings at the shoulder, painted in shades of rich cobalt with wave and stiff-leaf bands around the waisted neck, consecutive bands of scrolling lotus, composite blossoms and waves encircling the ovoid body above a lappet band at the foot, the recessed base bearing the six-character seal mark in cobalt and all surfaces except the foot ring covered with a colorless glaze. 24 1/2in (62.2cm) high
