TLS signed ÂHarry, one page, 8 x 10.5, United States Senate letterhead, December 9, 1937. Letter to John W. Snyder, his close friend who would serve as his Secretary of the Treasury, in full: "There has been a young fellow here by the name of Leo Bird, employed in the CCC Camps on Baltimore and Richmond as a statistical clerk. He has made a very excellent record, but due to the fact that they are cutting down the force, they are going to let him out. He is coming back to St. Louis, and I believe he is perfectly capable of filling a clerical position somewhere. Anything you can do to help him I will appreciate. He was one of my original supporters down there, and I got him the job about two and a half years ago. He is now married and has one child. I told him to call on you when he got to St. Louis." A carbon copy of Snyder's reply letter is stapled to the front. In fine condition.Format: TLS
