Abel Morgan : CYD-GORDIAD Egwyddorawl SCRYTHURAU : Neu Daflen Lythrennol o'r Prif Eiriau Yn Bibl Sanctaidd, 1730. Scarce title. Small folio, original 18th.C panel binding, spine professionally re-backed, gilt. Title page in facsimile, remaining text within printed borders complete. Early manuscript inscriptions/ dedications on fep. This volume represents the earliest Welsh Concordance to the Bible, printed in the printing works of Samuel Keimer in Philadelphia who employed Benjamin Franklin at the time of publication of this title. This volume is also the second book in Welsh printed in America. There may be some grounds for the conjecture that Benjamin Franklin ( founding father of the US ) himself may have handled this book and others in the same edition.
CONDITION REPORT:
The binding shows clears signs of use and some wear at the ext and the spine of course has been professionally rebacked. Otherwise the binding and text is sound and tight. The paste-down has some manuscript inscriptions, the fep is a little chipped at the base but still firmly attached and has numerous manuscript inscriptions on the verso and recto. Title page in photo-copy facsimile. Text block generally clean and tight.
