bronze,Birma, 11-12th century,Size: 24 cmA rare and beautiful 11th-12th Century Burmese Bronze Pagan Buddha Statue with a double lotus base, which probably was just engraved, same as his dress was. He is seated on a double lotus pedestal with a beautiful serene slightly smiling expression, eyes are cast downwards, hand gesture in bhumisparsa mudra and dressed in a simple monks robe typical of the Pagan style Buddha statue. The raised urna on the centre of the forehead is referred to as the “Eye of Wisdom”
