Incised on black Bakelite handset STROMBERG CARLSON TELEPHONE MFG. CO. G-BB. Original brass candlestick shaft with black paint worn off in many areas by the passage of decades. Original patina. Incised on back of working adjustable chrome transmitter MFD. BY STROMBERG-CARLSON TEL. MFG. CO. ~ ROCHESTER N.Y. U.S.A. Red letters RB painted to base. This looks to be an example of what was called the Kansas City phone because print ads for this model were set in Kansas City. Most of the plating is in fair to good condition, there is some light pitting and the original patina. Formed in 1894, Stromberg-Carlson was an electronics manufacturer and one of the five U.S. companies that controlled the supply of telephone equipment until after World War II.
