器呈圓桶形，平底廣口，底承三獸足。通體施綠釉，器蓋堆塑成博山形式，山巒起伏，象徵傳說中的海上仙山，與器身子母口相合。器身飾淺浮雕獸首銜環、走獸等紋飾，畫面生動又不失上古粗獷之氣。博山奩、博山爐皆以飾有博山而得名，是中國漢、晉時期民間常見的焚香器具。
