Biography: Edgar Hewitt Nye was a painter and teacher who spent most of his life in the Washington, D.C. area. He studied at the Corcoran School of Art, 1892–1900, and later in life exhibited with the "X" painters at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. From 1905-1920 he studied and painted in France and England, including with John Noble Barlow. Nye returned to Washington permanently in 1921. Ref. Andrew J. Cosentino and Henry H.
