East Tennessee Hepplewhite walnut chest of drawers, Grainger/Greene County provenance. Highly figured walnut primary wood, poplar secondary. Comprised of a plain rectangular top, four graduated dovetailed drawers, kite inlaid escutcheons, shaped apron, and bracket feet. 38" H x 38 3/4" W x 17 3/4" D. Circa 1820. Descended from Franklin William Taylor (1810-1886) of Grainger Co., TN, grandson of Daniel Taylor (1761-1834). In 1844, Franklin acquired Deaderick Plantation near Russellville and renamed it, "Greenwood". The home served as headquarters to Confederate General Joseph Kershaw in the Civil War.
