Eric Gorton ( ?-2001) Ornithological School, Watercolour illustration , Atlantic Canary or Wild / Island Canary ( a member of the Serin family ) 'Serinus Canaria', probably a book illustration . Ascribed verso and titled lower in Latin. 9 7/8 x 7 3/8''. A letter from Bolton Museum states ' Eric was indeed an employee of the museum , working initially as the taxidermist and later as Keeper of Natural History before retiring through ill health . In the Art Gallery we have one work on paper by Eric but the Natural History section also have some of his beautiful sketch books....'
