此件铜雕犀牛望月小巧玲珑，犀牛呈跪坐状，四脚弯曲伏地，尾巴扬扫，显得生动有趣。牛头部转向后方仰起，作望月状，两眼炯炯有神，形态栩栩如生。背上祥云高起，托起一轮弯月，以作承托铜镜之用，整体设计奇巧，造型生动，为明代镜架之精品，不为多见。犀牛望月，语出《关尹子·五鉴》：「譬如犀牛望月，月形入角，特因识生，始有月形，而彼真月，初不在角，胸中之天地万物亦然」。
