此炉质感厚重沉稳，光泽温润素雅。两侧有双立耳，腹部圆润，底承三足。器身以乳丁纹为饰，造型大方稳重。香炉是“香道”必备的器具，也是华人民俗、宗教、祭祀活动中必不可少的供具。其用途亦有多种，或熏衣﹑或陈设﹑或敬神供佛。鎏金是自先秦时代即产生的传统金属装饰工艺，是一种传统的做法，至今仍在民间流行，亦称火镀金或汞镀金。在东周和汉代以后均颇为流行，宋代始称鎏金。鎏金工艺，是我国一种传统的技术。
