Gustave Cimiotti Jr. (NY, 1875-1969), The Barnyardoil on board, signed at lower right, inscribed on the verso, presented in a later gilt plein air style frame. DOA 20 x 24 in. Cimiotti studied at the Art Students League in New York and later at the Académie Julian and Académie Delacluse in Paris. He maintained a studio for many years in New York City in the same building as William Merritt Chase, Winslow Homer, and John La Farge. Cimiotti's work was well received and he exhibited frequently throughout his career, including at the Armory Show in 1913, the National Academy of Design, the Corcoran Gallery, Grand Central Galleries, the Salmagundi Club, and other venues.
