An Indian Album of The Mysore Keddah. The album contains approx 46 black and white photographs relating to the round-up of wild Asian elephants and a tiger hunt, as photographed by Barton Son & Co Ltd Bangalore. Note: The Mysore Keddah was a stockade built to round-up a herd of wild elephants using domesticated elephants. This method was first introduced in Mysore by G.P Sanderson at Kardihalli where Sanderson worked for the Forest Department. A Keddah operation was usually arranged for visiting dignitaries or nobles. This method has since been banned under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 as Asian elephants are now critically endangered. The photographs in this album reflect the series of actions in the process of rounding up wild elephants and documents the challenges involved.
