明代和清代中前期，宫中常用沉香木制成笔筒、笔插、笔搁、如意、瓶等，工艺精细，与犀角制作相同。此件沉香杯选用一段沉香木雕琢而成，为仿角杯作品中的杰出典范。此杯上敞下敛，杯腹内收，口沿及底足呈不规则椭圆形。杯外壁以浮雕及镂雕技法刻画老树数枝，梅花纹理。刀法深浅有致，沈稳细腻，巧妙结合沉香木质本身之纹理枝节，通景雕刻，气韵天成，自然流畅，赋予了作品高远之人文情怀，品味不凡。整件作品造型优美均衡，古朴端庄，意趣天然，包浆厚重，更添一段清雅暗香，实乃清代同类作品中代表之作。
