19th Century William Oliver Seaside Oil Painting. This oil on canvas painting titled "Trois Personnages au bord de Mer" features a Royal Navy sailor courting two young women. Signed by the artist William Oliver (English, 1805-1853) in the lower left. According to AskArt, Oliver earned a reputation for the aesthetic qualities of his oil and watercolor portrait, figure, and landscape paintings. Many of these paintings were done in Italy, the destination of many British artists at the time because of the vast amount of artwork on display and the art education, which one could gain in that country. He was a member of the Watercolor Society of London, and from 1829 to 1853, exhibited at the Royal Academy of London. Purchased by the consignor at Kurt E. Schon Gallery in New Orleans, LA. Frame measures approximately 50.5 inches x 40.5 inches, stretcher measures approximately 44 inches x 34 inches.
