Chinese Ming Dynasty Wanli Emperor Reign period porcelain helmet jar. Potted with baluster jar with tall feminine silhouette with broad shoulders and a body. In shape of a phoenix tail, the shape having thick potted body, sturdily potted in a bulbous body, gently tapered on shoulder toward prominent straight neck with wide opening. The baluster jar is capped by a relatively tall bell-shaped lid, in form of a general's helmet, crowned with an oval pinnacle. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the Wucai design color. Wucai or five-color shades and tones, brightly painted in Wucai design, Opaque colors around the exterior, between the filling motif decorated in colorful vivid sgraffito ground of uptala. The Main body delicately depicted five-claws dragon flying amidst flaming flames with a ruyi cloud against blue white glazed ground, Lotus blooms with interlocking vines. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The dome decorated with reverse bowl porcelain floral blooms pattern, flying five-claws dragons scrolling twigs and crowned by a flower bud creature finial in a vivid tones color. The shoulder adorned with auspicious pattern and upturning phoenix tail on the foot base rim. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. The glaze appearance on the blue painting resembled the texture of an orange peel "ju-pi" (chu-p'i) or a d chicken skin.
