应野平，原名端俊，又名野萍、野苹，浙江宁海人。幼承家学，初学王石谷、王鉴，后师石涛及宋元诸家画风，即取古人法。其创作在继承传统的基础上借鉴西画，融会贯通，自具面目。所作笔墨苍润拙朴，格调清新明快，画面气韵生动。作品为中国美术馆、北京人民大会堂和国宾馆及各地美术馆都有收藏，日本赞其为“中国山水画家第一人”。其书法以隶书见长，间作诗词，亦清新隽雅。
