寿星是中国神话中的长寿之神，为福、禄、寿三星之一，又称南极老人星。该寿星童子像以整节竹根圆雕而成，右手捧持如意，左手持仗，长髯垂胸，笑逐颜开。膝旁童子手捧仙桃，仰头开怀而笑，形象传神，极富感染力。该品雕刻人物容貌生动，儿童夸张的面部表情与寿星慈祥的神态均塑造得淋漓尽致，刻工精湛，人物笑貌、衣纹均带有飘逸出尘之感，使整体雕刻的欢乐色彩更加强烈。此件作品取材精良，以圆雕及高浮雕为主，刀工娴熟，技法精湛，包浆完好，为清代竹根圆雕艺术的精品佳作，不为多见。
