A Chinese 5-color Peking glass snuff bottle dating from the 18th century. The snuff bottle is decorated in red, yellow, blue, and green with pomegranates, a bat, and a grasshopper on a radish against a textured pale blue glass ground. The snuff bottle has a metal stopper inlaid with coral and it has a spoon.
Dimensions are: 3 inches tall X 1 3/4 inches wide. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: The cork has detached from the stopper, the snuff bottle has a few very small pits and chips, the largest of which is 5 mm.
Provenance: From Mrs. Hillebrand in Chicago, IL, whose parents purchased these items in China and Hong Kong prior to the 1960s.
