宋人好“斗茶”，兔毫、油滴盏皆是品茗所用的上品佳具，因此，此盏倍受文人雅士的推崇。此盏造型撇口纤腹，弧线优美。罩施黑釉，色泽深沉悠远，宛如乌金。盏外壁刮釉至近足处，露出煤黑色坚致胎骨。盏内外可见大大小小呈圆形的斑点，似油滴状。因高温烧造时，釉层熔融垂流，致使外壁近足处垂积的釉呈滴珠状，故名曰“油滴盏”。
