此类筒瓶的造型出现于明万历时期，崇祯时期的造型略有演变，器口已较开阔，微撇。青花色泽鲜艳明快，色调纯正、深沉，釉面白中闪青。颈部所饰简洁的蕉叶纹与万历及清初的蕉叶形象均有所不同，为崇祯时期的特色。腹部通景绘取材于戏曲小说的人物故事，构图巧妙，画意既有明代传统遗风，又呈现出清初的新颖格调。青花上除传统画法外，又开创了新的皴法用笔，亦为此时期的特色。
