A LACQUERED WOOD HEAD OF GUANYIN, MING
China, 1368-1644. The bodhisattva is carved with a high chignon behind a tiara with a centered Amitabha, flaked by two flowers, the face with a benevolent expression and downcast eyes.

Provenance: From an old English private estate.
Condition: Fine condition with the lacquer completely original and quite well preserved, slightly faded, soiled and with extensive crackling, some losses, the wood itself with several age cracks and minor chipping.
