后世把这种造型的瓷器称作梅瓶，元明时期梅瓶盛行，因其口小适于插梅枝而得名。其实宋代把这种梅瓶称作经瓶，用途也不是插花，而是装酒。瓶口施一周覆莲瓣纹，器腹为这折枝牡丹纹，近足处为仰莲瓣纹，与肩部覆莲头尾呼应。牡丹花卉起伏，布满瓶身，枝叶卷曲，枝头花朵绽放，犹感暗香袭来。
