A set of ten mahogany dining chairs, in George III style, second half 19th century, directly after a design by Thomas Chippendale, incorporating two armchairs, each shaped top rail centred by a patera motif, above a pierced lyre shaped splat, the drop in padded seat above tapering cabriole legs terminating in claw on ball feet at the front A closely related set of chairs was designed by Robert Adam for Osterley Park, Isleworth. Thomas Chippendale later used this design for the dining chairs at Nostell Priory, Yorkshire and Brocket Hall, Hertfordshire.
