A Regency brass and scarlet tortoiseshell inlaid ink stand, circa 1815, in the manner of George Bullock, directly after designs in the Wilkinson Tracings, the dished rectangular tray centred by three rectangular cut-glass ink-wells, two with lids inlaid with a flower, flanked by a pen tray on each side, 40cm wide, 27.5cm wide This design of marquetry is among a collection of tracings (originally a scrapbook) called Tracings by Thomas Wilkinson from the designs of the late Mr Bullock 1820, now in the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. It is likely that Thomas Wilkinson had worked for Bullock which explains his access to the original designs.
