A Late 19th Century Chinese Carved Soapstone Tray inlaid with mother of pearl. The leaf shaped platter carved with gnarled branch-form handles sprouting leafy reeds. The centre inset with a mother of pearl figure riding on the back of a buffalo flanked by stylised trees with birds and a cloud overhead alongside inscribed calligraphy. The base on three turned feet with a seal mark to the centre, 13½" x 9½" (34 cm x 24 cm).
