A 19th Century Mahogany Gainsborough Chair. The generously proportions square upholstered back, arm-rests and sprung seat covered in crimson velveteen edged with braid. The down-swept arm supports enriched with carved flower heads strings of beading and sprays of acanthus above blind fret-work legs with pierced corner brackets and chamfered stretchers, 40½" (103 cm) high, 28" (71 cm) wide, 27" (69 cm) deep.
