A German or Russian silver and silver-gilt tankard 17th/18th century. With elaborate scrolled foliate handle, the lid terminating in pinecone finial, the interior silver-gilt; allover repoussé and punch decorated with shells and cartouches, the body with six reserves each finely chased with naturalistic scenes of birds; marked to underside with Nuremburg city mark and St. Petersberg mark for 1791; with maker's mark HF possibly for possibly Hans Frihuisfeld (German, 1644-1674), Nuremburg, with additional unidentified mark "H-M" and number "78."H: 7 in.
