GOOD 17TH / 18TH CENTURY CHINESE CARVED SOAPSTONE FIGURE OF LI TIEGUAI, seated half length, his left hand holding his iron crutch, 17cm high, accompanied with the original painted portrait gouache miniature of the original owner "Claude calthrop" depicted with the figure, painted by Horace Taylor in Geneva 1918, provenance: Claude David Usticke Calthrop (1893 - 1921) first secretary general of the Rhineland high commission, Coblenz, by whom possibly acquired in Switzerland or germane; thence by decent to the present owner.
