A Chinese silk embroidered 'flying tiger' banner, Qing Dynasty, late 19th or early 20th century, on a black ground edged with a later border, the tiger is shown standing on its hind legs, teeth bared, and spreading its large red wings, all on a black ground embroidered with flame scrolls, clouds and bats, approximately 111cm x 124cm including later border Compare with triangular banner of similar date and subject, sold Christie's, Chinese Ceramics, Works of Art and Textiles, London, South Kensington, 14 May 2014, lot 830.
