青白玉質，光亮細緻，局部有褐色沁。簪首雕琢為鳳鳥造形，菱形眼，尖耳，鬢鬚飄逸，口銜蓮花，莖蔓延伸至頸後，層層纏繞，花瓣翻卷，舒展自如。童子跨乘於飄逸冠羽之上，頂梳桃式髮髻，身著窄袖對襟衫，下著長褲，雙手持握蓮梗，表情天真無邪，具有「連生貴子」之涵意。髮簪是指用來固定和裝飾頭髮的一種首飾。《史記．滑稽列傳》：「前有墮珥，後有遺簪」；杜甫《春望》也有「白頭搔更短，渾欲不勝簪」之句。本件簪首採圓雕、透雕等工藝細緻地琢出纏枝蓮，構圖疏朗雅致。前端鳳凰造形顯示高貴身分，真實展現明代貴族婦女頭飾和妝容的雍容華貴。
