七寶燒因其燒製工藝源於中國景泰藍，故又有「日本的景泰藍」之稱。其以金屬為胎，表面裝飾石英為主的原料並配合其他顏料燒製而成，具有器形規整、胎骨輕薄、釉料細膩、色澤明快璀璨等諸多特徵，體現日本民族特點和輝煌工藝成就。本件花瓶器形碩大，典雅莊重，玻璃質感光耀如水。通體棗紅色透明琺瑯地，鏨刻細密竹編紋，其間有竹葉、雀鳥裝飾，在光線照耀下晶瑩剔透，燦爛奪目，彰顯日本獨特品味，展現虛靜浪漫的美學觀。主題紋飾以不透明釉填彩，顯得澤厚重華麗，朵朵不同品種的菊花在鮮紅底色上盛開綻放，花瓣迎風飄展，姿態鮮活。其繁茂的枝葉施以飽滿嫩綠、深綠等色，色彩豐富自然，主題與背景層次分明，加之飽滿圓潤器形，分外討喜。
