A private collection of Chinese cricket cages and related items - a late 19th / early 20th century Chinese bamboo cricket tickler case with incised decoration depicting a mountainous river landscape & a calligraphy poem complaining about how difficult it is to sleep when that 'pesky insect' (the cricket) starts his song, containing a cricket tickler with rat's whiskers, the case 10.1ins. (25.7cms.) long. Provenance - purchased from Honeychurch Antiques, Hong Kong, 13th December 2000.
