Translation provided by Youdao
30 BC-323 AD. A carved wooden uraeus with sun-disc above the head; painted serpent detailing with segmented panel to the throat; attachment peg below. 11.1 grams, 11cm (4 1/4"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired in the 1970s. The uraeus was a symbol of the goddess Wadjet, one of the earliest Egyptian deities who took the form of a cobra. She was the protector of the Nile Delta and Lower Egypt. Pharaonic headdresses in the New Kingdom combined the cobra with the vulture symbol of Nekhbet representing of the unification of Lower and Upper Egypt. [No Reserve]
