3rd millennium BC. A bronze stamp seal, discoid with slightly domed upper face, collar and loop handle, image of a zebu with bird above, accompanied by a typed and signed note by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 40 x 40 x 29mm. This is round, with flat face and slightly convex back, from the centre of which rises a pierced handle with pointed tip and flange around the base. The design shows a standing humped bovine with crescent above its back. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 1500-500 B.C. It is covered with incrustation which could be removed, but is in very good condition.' 45 grams, 40mm (1 3/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection number P-32; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
