17th-18th century AD. A bronze figurine of Uma Parameshvari standing with legs crossed, right hand on her hip and left hand gripping a vine(?); mounted on a custom-made stand. Cf. Dehejia, V. et al, (eds) Chola: Sacred Bronzes of Southern India, London, 2007, fig.18 for type. 580 grams, 19cm height including stand (7 1/2"). Property of a London gentleman; from his father's collection formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
