A stucco frieze fragment comprising the face of a lion with thick brow-ridge extending to a slender nose with impressed nostrils, bulbous eyes above a wide mouth open to reveal a small protruding tongue, slashed texture to the mane beneath; red pigment to the tongue, mouth and chest; mounted on a custom-made stand. 652 grams, 16cm including stand (6 1/4"). Property of a London gentleman; from his father's collection formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
