Two-piece wool Spalding baseball uniform with blue felt "P" stitched to left breast. Fabric is grey with subtle cream and light blue pinstriping. Three-quarter length sleeves with cadet collar tapering to partial four button placket. Armpits are ventilated with six blanket stitched holes in each. A.G. Spalding & Bros. tag sewn inside with 13 stitches on baseball and "Made in USA," a tag design dating from ca 1914 through 1930. Pants are short knickers style with elastic cuffs. Interior crotch is reinforced, single back pocket on the right, a hidden three-button placket, and with exterior belt loops with a central belt loop. The central belt loop was used by players in the early 20th century to hold their belt buckles in place, going out of fashion in the early 1920s. Shirt collar to hem 34 in., shoulders seam to seam 19.5 in., sleeve seam to hem 16.5 in.; pants waist to cuff 30.5 in., waist 17 in. Grey was the typical color of away uniforms in the early decades of the 20th century. The Philadelphia Phillies used a block letter P on their uniforms, and adopted the color blue for their away uniforms starting in 1915, rather than the red they previously used for both home and away games. From 1915 until 1920 their away uniform was grey with the blue block-letter P, a partial placket, elbow-length sleeves, and knickers with a central belt loop. In 1921 both home and away uniforms changed drastically adopting a P within a circle, dropping the cadet collar and central belt loop, and other design changes.
