Verso with Browne's 5th Michigan Cavalry backmark and ink inscription reading, "Brig Gen Custer / Com'd 1st Brig 1st Div / Cav Corps / (Michigan Brigade)." Catalogued in Katz as [K-26V], and referred to as "the only known carte having Browne's backmark."
