NOTE: We are grateful to Dr. Irene Herner for her assistance cataloguing this work. According to Dr. Herner, Siqueiros created this work during his painful time in prison. Using white pyroxylin paint and black ink, the artist depicts on a spiral notebook page a shoeless, naked, androgynous, possibly Mesoamerican subject. This work is one of several studies Siqueiros designed for a mural in Mexico titled El drama y la comedia en la vida social de México, which he concluded after leaving prison in 1966. The lot is accompanied by Dr. Herner's documentary essay from September 2019. HID03101242017
