我国历史上，这种用珍珠宝石及其他各种名贵材料来对器物进行镶嵌的装饰技法，其实在汉代就已经出现。据《西京杂记》记载：“汉制，天子笔管以错宝为研。”所谓“错宝”，就是不同品类的宝石或珍贵材料。明代高濂在《遵生八笺》里记载：“如雕刻宝嵌紫檀等器，其费心思工本，为一代之绝。”此件摆件呈亭台楼阁款式，内为铜质，外部鎏金，屋檐以松石点缀。此件制作规整，工艺朴实流畅，气势恢宏又不失精致。极具观赏与收藏价值。
