Lustrous, Chinese Qing Dynasty blue and red magpie prunus motif porcelain reward vase. The porcelain potted in a round globular body, with round shoulder gently raised the cylindrical long neck toward the straight mouth rim, raised on small flat foot base. All reserved in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the blue and red design color. The exterior adorned with abundant plum tree, several magpie bird hanging on the sturdy branch. The welcome blossoms of plum trees in late winter has made the plum tree a popular plant. It is one of the three friends of winter. It is often shown with a crane, another symbol of longevity; with a ruyi is a wish for a peaceful, long life. The five petals of the flower represent one of the many ‘fives’ in Chinese symbolism including the five gods of prosperity; five good fortunes; five good luck gods. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy.
