Chinese Ming Dynasty blue and white dragon motif porcelain plate. Fine Porcelain potted in shallow vessel form, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide, a slightly flared lip and raised with round shallow draft. All reserved in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt fine blue color. The center interior medallion adorned with five claws imperial dragon soaring amidst thrashing Lishui waves water, with face and upper right appendage outstretched toward the heavens, enclosed with double fine blue rings lines. The outer rim decorated with several snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds, vapor in a cobalt blue color dragon squama rounded the plate to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the base left unglazed with grayish creme-brown ground and dark spots of firing marks. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
