嘎乌为藏语的音译，意为小型佛龛，龛中供奉随身佛像、佛画或擦擦，方便移动或携带，可以祈佛保佑，护身避邪。嘎乌以银为材，正面镶入整片金质纹饰，中间镂空龛门，装饰嵌松石的朵花璎珞网格，外围纹饰捶打成型，立体高凸，极为华丽，上方龛楣为大鹏金翅鸟，两侧各有一条腾空而起的祥龙，下方中央为带有火焰背光的狮面佛母，左右狮虎相伴，周围又以曼妙柔美的卷草花卉装饰。嘎乌背板饰十相自在图，侧面錾刻卷草八吉祥纹，并各置一对桥形孔，以供穿带挂佩。拍品取材厚实，入手沉重，装饰华丽且工艺精致，为嘎乌中难得的上乘之作。旧配黄底红花织物套包，并镶金边，制作考究。参阅：《罗布尔卡珍藏文物辑选》，中国藏学出版社，2011年，页196
