此盏口沿稍收，腹部饱满圆润，造型规整稳定。黑釉因窑变而成酱色。建盏以黑釉驰名居多，酱釉反而成稀有。酱釉又称：“柿色釉，紫金釉”，是一种以铁为呈色剂的高温色釉，其釉料中含氧化铁和氧化亚铁的总量较高，达5%以上。酱釉的出现始创于北宋的北方窑口，如定窑、耀州窑等窑场中均有烧造，以定窑酱釉最著名。明曹昭《格古要论》中“有紫定色紫，有黑定色黑如漆，土具白，其价高于白定酱釉瓷器”的论述。所谓紫定并非紫色，其釉呈棕红色，实际上与今天芝麻酱色调相近的釉，故而得名。
