虚扁壶最早见于明代时大彬款制作的调砂「虚扁」，亦可称「扁圆壶」。虚扁壶以其扁圆的器型，给人一种虚怀若谷，逍遥自在之感。此壶泥料精炼，作虚扁式。壶身上下合盘，似如扁珠，弯流嘴口内敛，圈把圆润，壶盖穹起，算珠壶钮居中。底刻划刻诗文书款逸公，法度严谨。此壶器形线面屈曲和谐，寓潇洒于纤巧中，形虽扁而气度却昂，刚柔相济。
