此件作品以圆雕制成，刻工精良，包浆温润自然，品相完好。二人皆体态丰腴，开口而笑，憨态可掬，一人手持荷花，微昂首，另一人则微侧迎合，此和合二仙像雕刻精美，神情天真烂漫，人物形态生动，身姿优美，衣褶流转自然，样貌更是栩栩如生。和合二仙源于唐代名僧寒山拾得二人，唐代就已经有了寒山的画像了，当时的形象为吕丘胤《寒山子诗集序》中描绘的“状如贫子，形貌枯悴……桦皮为冠，布裘破弊，木屐履地”等等，流露出一种狂放不羁的气质。后再清代正式受到皇封，成为道教与佛教的重要神祇。
