JAMES MCNEILL WHISTLER (American 1834-1903) "La Vieille aux Loques" Etching and drypoint on laid paper (later impression) fourth state of four. Plate: 8 1/4 x 5 3/4 inches; Sheet:10 x 7 5/8 inches; Frame: 18 3/8 x 14 1/2 inches. Signed in the plate lower right: Whistler (the "S" is backward). The printed inscription "Delatre Imp. Delatre Rue" is not visible in the plate, no publisher information visible. CONDITION: In overall good condition, when examined out of the frame the sheet is not laid down but is hinged at the top with archival tape. Old tape visible on all four edges of the sheet recto, not visible from the front. 409 written in pencil recto. Strong contrasts between the black ink and white laid paper. No visible abrasions or areas of paper loss. Please contact the Fine Art department for additional images.
