If our vases take back, for their shape, that of ancient bronzes, their joyful decoration differs significantly from it. These landscapes are a brilliant illustration of the time of technical perfection (smooth finish, generously gilded partitions and precise patterns) that Qianlong's reign represented for the art of cloisonné enamels coming out of the imperial workshops. This decoration is to be compared to that of a frozen vase presented for sale by Christie's Hong Kong, on May 29, 2013 under number 2075.
